Our goal is to help parents and their babies stay safe and healthy and to prepare families for the many changes that lie ahead.

Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG)
ZSFG is the only certified "Baby-Friendly" hospital in San Francisco. ZFSG's expert team includes doctors, midwives, and technicians.1 Resources include UCSF doctors specializing in women’s health, gynecology, obstetrics, oncology, and pediatrics; midwife care throughout pregnancy, labor, childbirth, and postpartum; and breastfeeding support.
UCSF Health
The UCSF Women's Health Center is recognized internationally for its expertise in providing comprehensive, specialized care for women's health issues.2 It is the only nationally-designated Center of Excellence in Women's Health in Northern California. It is also recognized as one of the top hospitals in the nation for gynecological care.
John Muir Health
John Muir Health partners with parents and those thinking about starting a family, honoring your birth experience preferences and supporting you as a new parent. John Muir Health helps you prepare for labor and delivery, offers pregnancy and new parent classes, and breastfeeding support.
MarinHealth
MarinHealth has been delivering babies since 1952 and is Marin’s only hospital resource for labor and delivery. MarinHealth offers parents-to-be a range of expertise and services that make planning, delivering, and caring for your baby a personalized experience.
Dignity Health
The Dignity Health team provides support, guidance, and specialized medical care during pregnancy. Their medical professionals in obstetrical care are dedicated to providing quality pregnancy care in the Bay Area. Resources available include a birth center at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz and birth center orientation classes at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City.
Preparing for and managing Pregnancy
If you are planning to have a baby or thinking about it, there are steps to take to help give you and your baby a healthy start.
Infertility Services
Available services include professional services, outpatient care, treatment by injection, prescription drugs if applicable, artificial insemination (AI), intrauterine insemination (IUI) and GIFT. For a complete list of covered services and limitations refer to your Evidence of Coverage.
Choose an Obstetrician (OB)
With CanopyCare HMO, you may schedule an appointment with any available obstetrician within the Canopy Health network.
OB/Gynecology Care members may select an OB/Gyn in their Primary Care Physician's IPA/Medical Group. If you prefer, you may select an OB/Gyn in another Canopy Health IPA/Medical Group. Authorization is not required. (An administrative referral is needed, however, when crossing IPAs/Medical Groups for tracking purposes and to ensure claims are paid correctly.)
Sign Up for Childbirth-related Classes
Many of our Alliance partners offer a variety of classes to help expecting parents and their partners learn more about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and parenting. Parents can enroll in a variety of programs and classes that can help prepare you for childbirth and parenting. Topics can include:

Postpartum Visits
Through Health Net's Smart Start for Your Baby program, CanopyCare HMO provides coverage for postpartum visits. It is recommended that your first postpartum visit be three to six weeks after your delivery date. The number and frequency of visits is a shared decision between the mother and her doctor.
Choose your Pediatrician
CanopyCare HMO has hundreds of pediatricians to choose from, each one with a unique background, personality and approach. Your doctor may be able to make a recommendation. Take the time to find a pediatrician that shares your family values.
All of our medical groups within UCSF, MarinHealth, John Muir Health, Zuckerberg San Francisco General, and Dignity Health are leading providers of primary care services to infants, children and young adults. They have expert pediatricians who can be found through an online search and by contacting the call center at the number on your ID card.
